TopSeos who originally voted use 7th, 5th, 2nd has now updated there rankings, and we are on top. Thats right Able Net Design is the Best Web Design firm in Australia according to TopSeos.

This is great news. With the “NextGen” re-launch, we will cement ourselves as a leader.

As you can see from the teaser it is a drupal theme. That should give you a few hints as to what I’m doing.

This is the first teaser of our magazine theme called MediaHouse. It features CSS3 and HTML5 enhancements along with some great little jQuery here and there to make it just that little bit more special.

The theme will be launched next week when we launch our theme store.

TopSeo’s Australia came across us early last year and voted us the 7th best web design firm in Australia. Shortly after that we were pushed up to 5th best web design firm in Australia.

Well today they upgraded our rank once more. 2nd best web design firm in australia, it has to do with the design and marketing products we have developed in the late part of 2009. Our products are rare in Australia, and we are trying to bring web software to the masses, not to mention we also started working on an opensource project.

Since I think this is a great achievement i’ll be running a little fire sale later on.

We were one of the few design and development firms around the world that said enough is enough. Have a look at our web app KaffeeBreak, if your using IE6 we tell you to upgrade. Some of the features that are implemented in our app won’t work on the IE6 browser. I’m not going to go into specifics about what is wrong with IE6, simply because I don’t have enough time.

Anyway over the weekend reports started coming through that Google is dropping it’s support for IE6. First up will be it’s Google Docs apps and then it will filter through to the rest of it’s services.

Now that Google has come out and said no more IE6, you can be assured that the rest of the worlds tech firms will slowly follow.

What does this mean if you are running IE6?

It’s quite hard to say. Chances are that some of the the applications functions won’t work and you’ll probably come across some layout issues as well.

Changing your browser isn’t actually that difficult, and for those of you who are going to mention things like, security, compatibility, etc… Let me ask you how secure you think an 8-9 year old web browser is, and for the second one Google has proven that compatibility is out the window now.

Your two options are FireFox or Internet Explorer 8. I suggest you upgrade now before you start having major issues.

There are still a few things I want to put in before the first release. They are:

2. New Default Template

Apart from that it is about ready to go. We have noticed one bug with the friendly URL’s at the moment which we are currently working on. For some reason it works fine on our development server but when we put it on our live server we have a problem.

Starting the project just before the christmas break has had it’s problems but I have managed to slowly pull a great little app together. It is not quite ready for release. You’ll have to wait about two weeks for that.

A quick run down is FreshPowder is a blogging platform. Blogging is getting more and more complicated. We use wordpress to run this site and alot of our customers sites, but it has outgrown the humble blog. FreshPowder is back to basics, fun quick blogging which includes email-to-blog functionality. Which means that you can post from your phone or anything else with email capabilities. Exciting isn’t it!!

Anyway I thought I would post a teaser of the UI that I have been working on. It’s just a mockup but i’m interested in your comments, feedback and ideas.

There is still some refinement to be made to the mockup but you get the general idea. What are your thoughts?

I am pleased to announce that this year is going to be our biggest and best year yet.

Most people say this every year but with the planning I have done over the Christmas/New Years break I can assure you there are some great things coming.

Our main focus this year will be developing our own software. We started last year with KaffeeBreak which has over 100 registered users. First up that is going to get a facelift. We also have our first opensource project under development. The first release should be this month so it’s quite exciting.

We aren’t forgetting about our premium wordpress themes. However we are through a little spin on it. Instead of having a large collection of themes with basic options and features we are going to specialise in certain themes. For instance Trolley will be our first theme that we will be further developing. We are going to push the boundaries of what we can achieve with this theme making it the ultimate ecommerce package.

This is just a little taste of what we have planned.

Oops almost forgot to mention there will be some slight changes to the website in the coming weeks to reflect our 2010 direction.
